Governments Poise For Web 2.0

SMBs that cater to the government should polish their Web 2.0 skills.
New research from IDC company Government Insights maintains that tech-savvy government departments are ready to adopt Web 2.0 apps to enhance interaction and a sense of community between citizens and with fellow government players.
"A lot of Web 2.0 applications will allow government to change the nature of what they can do, in terms of interaction, but apart from the technical side of things, there will be a greater focus on improving the business of government," said Richard Harris, research vice president at analyst firm Gartner, in an interview with CNET News.com.
“Gov 2.0” will involve the replacement of legacy applications and is the successor to “e-gov,” which failed to deliver on expectations, Harris added.
