New Security Appliances from SonicWall

Wednesday, February 20, 2008
By bMighty.com Staff

Network security appliance vendor SonicWall has announced their new Network Security Appliance (NSA) Series of devices aimed at midsize businesses.

The NSA Series is based on a multi-core computing platform that first appeared in the company's enterprise-oriented E-class appliances launched in 2007. In what SonicWall calls "Unified Threat Management," the NSA servers handle intrusion prevention and anti-virus and anti-spyware inspection, as well as scanning multiple application types and protocols for vulnerabilities.

The NSA appliances can scan files of unlimited size, the company claims, and examine both the packet envelope and the contents for threats at the same time. The firewall also can be set up to filter outbound data, and security can be set on a per-user, per-subnet, or other basis.
