Windows Mobile Embraces Flash Lite

Monday, March 17, 2008
By bMighty.com Staff

Microsoft will support Adobe Systems' Flash Lite software on Windows Mobile devices -- even with its competing Silverlight technology in the works -- the company announced early this morning.

The new licensing agreement will put mobile IE on a more even footing with such mobile browsers as Opera Mobile and, some say, one-ups Apple's iPhone, whose Safari browser doesn't support Flash for Flash Lite. By enabling Web site video and animation, the online experience for SMB execs on the go becomes that much closer to being tethered to the office.

Microsoft will also license Adobe Reader LE, which enhances the readability of PDFs on smaller screens.

Licensing terms and when support will kick in have not been disclosed.
