HP's Online Storage Service Taken Offline

HP's Upline online storage solution, aimed at SMBs, has been suspended by the company since last week. HP expects service to be restored this week.

The service was launched on April 7, but on April 17 "HP chose to temporarily suspend the Upline service to investigate what we believe is an isolated technical issue," said HP spokesperson Sheila Watson. Watson did not say how many users were affected, but did say that any files on the service would remain intact. The company also offered a refund to customers.

Since the service launched, there have been several complaints about malfunctions in the client software used to upload files. And while the service was announced as being U.S.-only, its filters didn't enforce that restriction, and non-U.S. customers now face losing the service.
