Sun VirtualBox Adds Mac OS X Virtualization Support
Friday, May 9, 2008
By bMighty.com Staff
Sun Microsystems has released an update to its xVM VirtualBox program that enables Mac OS X to serve as a host operating system.
The open source VirtualBox was developed by Innotek, which was bought by Sun in February. It runs as an application on a host OS and allows guest OSes to run on top of it. The new version 2.6 supports Windows, Solaris, Linux, and Mac OS X as hosts, and almost any x86-based OS as a guest.
Both a community and proprietary version are available for free download, but the latter version -- which includes USB support and a Remote Display Protocol (RDP) server -- is only free for personal use.
