Sun Releases OpenOffice.org 3 Beta

Sun Microsystems has put into beta OpenOffice.org 3, the first version of its Microsoft Office-rivaling open source productivity suite to natively support Mac OS X.

OpenOffice.org 3, which also fully supports Windows Vista, is expected to be released in September. Other new features include support for the upcoming OpenDocument Format 1.2, Office 2007 for Windows and Office 2008 for Mac; spreadsheet collaboration through working sharing; and chart enhancements.
