By bMighty.com Staff
The WiMax service promoted by Sprint months ago will finally see commercial daylight in Baltimore in September.
Sprint president and CEO Dan Hesse said that after the Baltimore debut will come service in Washington, D.C., and Chicago by the end of the year. According to company CTO Barry West, more than 575 base station sites are in operation already.
Hesse also said that the WiMax service will be open and permit the use of any "safe" device or application. Devices available at commercial launch are expected to include a Samsung card, a ZyXEL modem, a ZTE USB dongle, and the Nokia N810 Internet tablet. WiMAX-capable laptops should follow later.
