Citrix Updates Application Virtualization Solution

Citrix Systems announced XenApp 5, a new version of its Presentation Server solution, promising greater speed and lower management costs.

XenApp 5 runs on Microsoft Windows Server and will be available on September 10, 2008. Pricing ranges from $350 to $600 per concurrent user.

The new version is part of Citrix's Delivery Center product line, which also includes XenDesktop and XenServer for what the company calls an "end-to-end virtualization solution that spans servers, applications, and desktops." The company claims that XenApp 5 launches applications up to 10 times faster and lowers management costs by more than 25 percent over previous versions.
