Microsoft has launched a blog to keep the world abreast of progress on its next-gen Windows 7 operating system.
Windows 7, due out in early 2010, is being built on Windows Vista's kernel, which means applications that are not compatible with Vista won't be compatible with Windows 7.
">Hosted by Microsoft SVPs Jon DeVaan and Steven Sinofsky, the Engineering Windows 7 (E7) blog aims to get a dialogue flowing among the company, partners and customers. "Windows has all the challenges of every large scale software project -- picking features, designing them, developing them, and delivering them with high quality...We strongly believe that success for Windows 7 includes an open and honest, and two-way, discussion about how we balance all of these interests and deliver software on the scale of Windows," states the first blog entry.
