The CEO of Aircell, the company that started providing Internet service on some American Airlines flights, said that up to four other airlines are moving forward with the service.
According to Aircell CEO Jack Blumenstein, Delta will have the Gogo service available throughout its domestic 330-jet fleet within a year and will expand the service to Northwest Airlines if the two companies' merger goes through. Virgin America is also installing the service, Blumenstein said, and yet another airline is set to announce its plans within days.
Blumenstein said he expects upwards of two thousand commercial airplanes to offer the Gogo service by the end of 2009.
