Responding to the attempted break-in to its servers last week, Linux vendor Red Hat has released an update to certain components of its Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) software packages.
Nevertheless, the company said that the intruder was able to sign a "small number" of OpenSSH packages related to certain RHEL architectures, which could pose a threat to customers who didn't obtain their software through the Red Hat Network. The company released updates for those OpenSSH packages.
">The company released an advisory rated as having a "critical security impact" last week but also said that its security team had responded promptly. "Based on these efforts, we remain highly confident that our systems and processes prevented the intrusion from compromising [the Red Hat Network] or the content distributed by RHN and accordingly believe that customers who keep their systems updated using Red Hat Network are not at risk," the alert said.
