iPhone Update May Be Coming Soon

As of Saturday, May 10, the iPhone is currently out of stock at the Apple Store, including both the 8MB and 16GB models. That can mean one of two things.

1. The iPhone is selling so fast that Apple can't make 'em fast enough.

2. Apple ran down the inventory in anticipation of the introduction of a new model.

If the second explanation is the right one, it could mean that the 3G iPhone — which can transmit data up to 8x faster than the initial 2.75G model — is coming faster than anticipated.
