Who Says You Can't Make Money Blogging?
Posted by Fredric Paul Monday, May 19, 2008, 01:15 PM ET
Some people will tell you that you can't make money blogging. Don't tell that to Ken Fisher and Jon Stokes. They just sold their Ars Technica blog to Conde Nast for a reported $25 million.
Sure, Ars Technica wasn't just any blog. According to the AP, it has been around since 1998, and has 4.4 million unique monthly visitors and some 8 employees.
The terms of the deal haven't been fully disclosed, but another blog -- TechCrunch -- that broke the story says it is in the $25 million range.
Conde Nast is a major media publisher, and will basically make Ars Technica a part of its Wired family, while maintaining the site as an independent publication.
Basically, it all goes to show that there is not just money in blogging, but serious money if you do it right and make it big. So, what are you waiting for?
