Microsoft Zaps Windows Home Server Bug

Microsoft has released a public beta of Windows Home Server Power Pack 1, which eliminates a data corruption bug that surfaced when the product launched last year.
Fixing the bug -- which reared its head when certain programs were used to edit or transfer files stored on a Windows Home Server-based computer with more than one hard drive -- involved a complete rewrite of the hardware's storage subsystem, according to a Microsoft developer. PP1 also includes a handful of new features, such as support for Vista x64 editions, improved remote access capabilities and energy efficiency, and the ability to back up Home Server shared folders.
The beta can be downloaded from the Windows Home Server Web site.
